Professor Kiama is the 8th Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine. He furthered his studies and obtained Ph.D in Structural Biology from University of Bern in Switzerland .. He has had a long and distinguished career in Academia and through the years has published extensively in scientific journals including; Nature Communications, Nature and Immunology and Cell Biology and has conducted research in various areas of his field.
In January 2020 he was appointed the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi and is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overseeing the overall administration of the university. Prof Kiama has a solid and discernable commitment to mentorship promoting innovation and entrepreneurship and strengthening the university’s reputation as a leading institution of higher learning.
