One day, if you keep your focus long enough, people will celebrate you.  That lesson stayed with me as I reflected on the journey of David Munyua. His story is not one of comfort or smooth transitions. It is a story of persistence. Even when securing an air ticket proved difficult, even when the journey to France seemed uncertain, he refused to give up. His focus remained unwavering. Nothing could distract him from his desire to win.  Watching such discipline reminds us that success rarely announces itself early. It grows quietly, shaped by pressure and perseverance.

From his journey, I drew several lessons that can guide anyone striving for meaningful impact.

1. Your Vision Must Stretch Beyond Your Geographical Location

Your potential should never be limited by where you were born, where you work, or where you currently live. You were not designed to think small or act locally forever. You were created to influence widely, think boldly, and step beyond familiar environments when purpose calls.

2. Everyone Carries a Winning DNA

Winning is not reserved for a few chosen individuals – it is embedded in all of us. The difference lies in who chooses to activate it. Winners do not wait for permission; they act from conviction. You already have talent, experience, and the capacity to grow. How you use them determines the outcome.

3. Challenges Refine You, They Don’t Define You

Challenges exist not to limit us but to prepare us. Some people face difficulties quietly; others voice frustration loudly. Either way, challenges should sharpen you, making you wiser, stronger, and more prepared for what lies ahead. Every obstacle is shaping you for a bigger responsibility. What feels heavy today may be necessary for the success you are meant to achieve tomorrow.

4. Consistency Beats Talent

Talent alone is never enough. Many gifted individuals never fulfill their potential because they fail to remain consistent. Small, deliberate efforts, repeated daily, produce results that eventually reach global levels. Progress may be slow, but steady, disciplined movement always wins in the end.

5. You Are a Global Citizen

If you do not rise to the occasion when opportunity presents itself, someone else will. Personal vision matters. The choices you make today will shape not only next year but the years that follow. Growth does not happen by accident; it is intentional.

6. Favour Follows Preparation

When purpose aligns with preparation, doors begin to open. Some doors open easily, others require effort. But no door opens unless you show up. Action is always required. Opportunities respond to readiness, not wishes.

7. Legacy Matters More Than Success

True winners do not focus solely on personal gain. They build people. They leave others stronger than they found them. The greatest failure is not losing-it is giving up. And the greatest challenge in the world today is selfishness.  Real victory is measured by the lives you impact, the people you uplift, and the positive change you leave behind.

In the end, we are all capable of global leadership. Think broadly, act wisely, serve faithfully, and win with integrity; never by stepping on others, but by lifting them along the way. That is the kind of success that lasts.
